Jenny Sherwin (aka hot talk radio jock Sheena Metal) will be MCing throughout the 2008 Pride Celebration.
Jenny Sherwin (aka hot talk radio jock Sheena Metal) is a Los Angeles entertainment icon. She has anchored numerous radio shows for over ten years in Los Angeles--six of which were spent on top-rated talk station KLSX (97.1 the FM Talk Station) where she helmed five successful shows (“The Sheena Show”, “Late Night Booty Call”, “Sheena and The Princess”, “Sheena and Sam”). Her untouchable wit, unforgettable voice and unflinching fan base have proven Jenny to be an undeniable radio presence that was the subject of a comprehensive five-page feature in the Los Angeles Times Sunday Calendar section, as well as being featured in: LA Weekly, the Daily News, Music Connection, and dozens of other periodicals. In addition, Metal was interviewed and quoted in Michael C. Keith’s “Sounds in the Dark”, currently in publication with a forward by Larry King. Currently she hosts “Music Highway,” an internationally syndicated music/talk hybrid heard on over 2,400 affiliates to nearly 130 million listeners worldwide. In addition, Jenny owns and runs Music Highway Entertainment, which specializes in development and promotion for: television, radio, music and film. She has penned and produced both the L.A. Cable Comedy hit “Sheena Metal’s Freakin’ Rock Review” (in which she also starred), as well as the tongue-in-cheek TV Soap Opera “WeHo Stories.” Known for her biting sense of humor, Metal appeared as a comedic commentator on “National Inquirer TV,” is the annual host of the All Access Music Awards, and has headlined and emceed two long-running stand-up comedy nights at The Laugh Factory in Hollywood (“Sheena Metal’s Midnight Madness” and “Inside the Girl’s Locker Room”); the latter of which was an all-girl comedy night featured in the Los Angeles Times. Recently, Jenny appeared on the big screen, acting in the sexy comedy “Treasure Hunt” and the indie drama “Changing Spots”. In 2006, she joined Ally Sheedy (“The Breakfast Club”) and Kathryn Erbe (“Law & Order: Criminal Intent”) onstage in New York City for a celebrity charity run of “The Vagina Monologues.” In 2007, she reprised her role in Los Angeles, alongside Jennifer Beals (“Flashdance”) and Rachel Shelley (“The L Word”). In Fall 2007, Metal was named President of the film and television development corporation, Sea Hag Ent. and will be creating, among other projects, a mockumentary, reality TV series, that she will also write and star in. In 2003, Jenny Sherwin founded an independent music organization, Music Highway. Boasting over 12,000 members worldwide, Music Highway is one of the biggest and most artist-friendly independent music resources on the web, and its success has led to a number of speaking engagements for Metal at conferences and conventions all over Southern California and beyond for such organizations as: L.A. Music Productions, Songsalive, Music Talks, Songnet, Indie Music Seminars, and the Los Angeles Women’s Music Festival. A popular live music promoter, Jenny owns Sheena Metal Productions which produces more than ten concerts a month in the Los Angeles area, booking artists in venues such as such as The Key Club, The Troubadour, The Gig (including the booking/promotion of their opening night celebration), and Slim Jim Phantom’s (“The Stray Cats”) Cat Club (where she hosted a night for George Clooney’s HBO series “Unscripted”). Currently, Metal books a variety of clubs from the upscale Knitting Factory (“Songs Rock!: An Industry Showcase”) to the neighborhood industry hang-out Universal Bar and Grill (“Sheena and Friends”) right down the street from Universal Studios and City Walk. Not one to linger too long behind-the-scenes, Metal regularly struts her stuff as the front person for the irreverent, theatrical L.A. favorite Sheena Metal’s Beer Bong, endorsed by Minarik Guitars and Studio Devil software, who recently won the coveted All Access Magazine People’s Choice Award, was voted one of Music Connection’s Hot 100 Unsigned, and was asked to play at a private party for the prestigious NAMM (National Association Of Music Manufacturers) Convention, while they work on the release of their first album, “The Tunnel Of Love.” Jenny’s vast experience in many aspects of entertainment has made her a sought-after featured writer for: the Los Angeles Times, Music Connection, LA Weekly, Curve, Planet Out, Frontiers, New Music Weekly, Unsigned and All Access, as well as a variety of other magazines. In 2006, she began a syndicated music column, “Music Highway,” as a companion to her weekly radio show, which has attained nearly 100 literary affiliates in a little over a year including the renowned Indie Bible. In January 2008, one such publication, NoHo Arts District Magazine, asked Metal to become their new Music Editor, where she’ll cover the creative comings and goings for one of Southern California’s most rapidly growing artistic communities. In addition, Jenny started of 2008 with the obtainment if two highly coveted positions: Director of A&R for Maurice The Fish Records, where she will be in charge of bringing the label new talent as well as running their Los Angeles Office and Music Supervisior for Ave Vox Entertainment, where she will place music for both television and film. From her eccentric beginnings as a cable access TV cult figure, to LA music industry icon, mainstream talk radio host, indie film character actress, headlining stand-up comic, New York/Los Angeles stage actress, and in-demand journalist, Jenny Sherwin has truly earned the title Queen of the Nighttime World.
